US intelligence says Iran’s military strength largely intact

US intelligence officials have stated that Iran’s military capabilities remain more intact than publicly suggested by US political leadership, according to a report by an American broadcaster citing multiple sources familiar with classified assessments.
The report indicates that Iran continues to retain a significant portion of its missile arsenal, air force capabilities, and naval strength despite ongoing regional tensions and military pressure. Officials familiar with the intelligence review said that Iran’s operational military capacity has not been substantially degraded.
According to the assessment, nearly half of Iran’s ballistic missile stockpile and its launch systems were still intact at the time of the ceasefire. In addition, approximately 60% of the naval assets linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are believed to remain operational.
Iran says US actions blocking real negotiations despite openness to talks
The intelligence findings reportedly contrast with public statements made by US President Donald Trump and senior defense officials, who had suggested that Iran’s military infrastructure had been significantly weakened during recent confrontations.
Officials emphasized that Iran continues to maintain a layered and resilient defence structure, allowing it to preserve core military capabilities even under sustained pressure. This includes mobile missile systems and distributed command structures that are difficult to fully neutralize.
Separately, Iran’s presidential office has rejected reports suggesting internal divisions within the country’s top leadership, dismissing such claims as unfounded.
The latest assessment highlights the complexity of evaluating military outcomes in the ongoing regional conflict, where both sides have made competing claims about battlefield impact and strategic gains. Intelligence officials caution that while damage has been inflicted, Iran’s overall military capacity remains substantial.
